Our team in the Netherlands
Let us introduce ourselves: our enthusiastic team in the Netherlands with a voluntary commitment to patients who need care in Indonesia!
Charles Kreleger
Co-Founder & Chairman
I am from Groningen and I am married to Sarina. My parents are from Java and Indonesia is in my blood. I have seen from up close that where your crib is determines your future and determines which health care you receive. This contributed to the fact that I changed my course 180 ° to studying nursing in 2014 . I want to help poor people and try to prevent them from becoming socially isolated. This can be done by sharing knowledge and by treating various disorders. By living and working as a nurse in different countries, I have gained international experience. With the Gentle Care Foundation I want to turn my dream into reality.
Sarina Gaethofs
Co-Founder & Advisor
I was born in Genk (Belgium) but I knew from a very young age that I wanted to go out into the wide world to help the less fortunate people. Together with Charles, this dream is now really being fulfilled. As a teacher, the right to good education for every child is my number 1 goal. However, this can only take place if the preconditions are also good: a healthy life and good nutrition are of great importance to accomplish this. We create these preconditions in our clinic. This way we contribute to ensuring that families, and therefore children too, have every opportunity to live a full life. By living and working as a teacher in different countries, I have gained a lot of experience that I can use within our foundation. And that's how I contribute to a better and more beautiful world!
Adrie van Dijk
Secretary
I'm Adrie, 48 years old, and I live in Zoetermeer with my partner and our three daughters. I officially started as a maternity nurse, but due to a lack of jobs, I retrained as an administrative assistant. When we became parents, I became a childminder, and when our last child started school, I went back to working outside the home. I've now been working as a domestic caregiver for a year.
I met Charles just 18 years ago while we were working together at an insurance company. I saw his last name and recognized it as my paternal grandmother's maiden name. I contacted Charles, and to make a long story even longer: we turned out to be distant relatives!
When Charles and Sarina asked if I wanted to help them with their foundation, I didn't hesitate for a moment. What they do for the people of Lombok is so special, I wanted to be a part of it. One day, I hope to see with my own eyes what they/we mean to the people there. But for now, working for the foundation is already a step in the right direction to be part of something good.
Theo Kapinga
Treasurer
My name is Theo Kapinga. I work as a rheumatologist at Reade, locations Jan van Breemen institute Amsterdam and Zaans Medisch Centrum. I see that joint problems can cause a lot of limitations, and that prompt treatment makes a big difference. I have often been to the smaller islands of Indonesia, in particular, and have seen that basic medical care is often not available to those who need it. This has major consequences for these people, resulting in unnecessary amputations or blindness. As treasurer of the Gentle Care Foundation, I hope that we can make a difference for these people on Lombok.
